ABOUT
My name is Priscilla. Welcome to my blog!
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. In 2007, I graduated from Calabasas High School and ended up in college in Eugene, Oregon at the University of Oregon. During my time at UO, I fell in love with Oregon and knew that I wanted to stay here. I ended up moving to Portland in 2011 and began working as a Citizen Outreach Director for the Fund for the Public Interest, a nonprofit organization that provided outreach and fundraising for political advocacy nonprofits. During my time with "The Fund" I recruited, trained, and managed political campaigns on all kinds of national policy issues. I worked for groups like the Human Rights Campaign on LGBTQ equality, Environment Oregon on local environmental issues, and OSPIRG on consumer advocacy policy. In 2012, my team and I flew to Colorado where we worked on a local Citizens United initiative and campaigned for President Obama's re-election. However, after two years, I decided to focus my efforts on local government issues over national policy change.
In 2013, I started graduate school at Portland State University, and in 2016 I completed my Master's in Public Administration with a focus in local government. During my Master's, I worked for several different public agencies, municipalities, and on consulting jobs for local governments. In 2016, I began working for a nonprofit organization that provides financial literacy education to kids K-12, adults, and community based organizations.
I have always been in love with politics and government. Even after I stopped working directly for political campaigns, I remained active and volunteered in my spare time. In 2014, I spent weekends volunteering for the GMO labeling campaign. I remained active working for local governments, municipalities, or with consulting organizations.
This 2016 election has made people realize more than ever how important it is to vote. This year, more than any other year, I have had friends reach out to me and inquire about how they can get involved in campaigns, good places to get information, dates on primaries/caucuses, and more. I have also found that during this election, I have A LOT to say and a lot of opinions. While I love Twitter, I realize that sometimes 140 characters aren't enough to say everything I need to say. So, instead of inundating my Facebook with my political posts (Sorry, guys!), I would create a space for all things politics.
Sometimes this will be unbiased information, sometimes it will be rants and opinions, and sometimes it will just be updating important dates. Either way, I hope you enjoy the ride!
